This is not the version that I read anyway the content should be identical for the cover and presentation is only trivial compared to something this intelligible.

This book is relatively easy to read compared to most of the original books that I have come across; the materials are well managed and well-chosen; most of the philosophers are presented in an intact and genuine form without too much emotional distortion(apart from Nietzsche as he is the focus and lighthouse of my philosophical studies); most of the critical arguments are interesting simple and easy to follow it is hilarious to watch Russell tearing down Hegel's philosophical edifice however he is confined (should I say?) to linguistic ***ysis (not surprisingly without any consideration of language such as Chinese)of most of the philosophical problems which I shall remain silent in this short review. Nevertheless language does give rise to funny philosophical problems maybe just not as definite as the ***ytical philosopher's conclusions suggest.

The chapter on Nietzsche is little bit disappointing quotations are limited deliberately to project a conceited and ruthless image on the unpenetrable MORALITY wall at least not the same image that came to my mind when I've finished reading almost all of Nietzsche's books. Again this is not a discussion on Nietzsche.

In conclusion it is a great book but not suitable for people who do not have much philosophical background. It serves best as a summary note for someone who is well acquainted with Western philosophy and is able to fully realize those merits contained in the book.
