The World Is Flat《What I learn out of "The World is Flat"》

Globalization is undergoing.

The first I learned is the significance of Supply Chain Management in the book. This specialty occurred to me 2 years ago. Right Now it is clear to me that supply chain gives a possiblity of the flat world. Since the world is flat rather than a tree-structured network(from top to bottom) an effective and efficient connecting system is necessary. No matter it is international shipping DELL's 0 inventory model or Walmart's distribution center idea supply chain is everywhere you can see in business world. However I have a strong will to implement it to NGO world. Specifically all organizations who are dealing with books or physical donations to remote areas are facing a problem of distributing and the high cost of distributing. From one-year experience in Cherish Sunshine I certainly believe in it for we spent over 60% solely in transporting books from Shanghai to the striken area in Sichuan Province in 2008...

My voice could be heard in Supply Chain too for my persistent interest in industrial world of business.

Secondly it is about how to survive in this globalized world.

Lucky to be Chinese lucky to being educated in America. Nevertheless it does not mean we know everything. The challenge is still apparent. We speak Chinese which does not mean that we Know about Chinese Culture well; We are educated in Amerca which does not mean we deeply learn of American secret to become a super nation within 200 years.

Reversely for those studying abroad it is even more challenging to better adapted to this flat world. We are apart from China but we have to keep ourselves posted what is going on in China and more than that we need to study harder to understand Chinese Culture/Wisdom as we have almost ignored when we were studying English in China and when we were having X'mas in China.

In addition the reason we are here in US is that we would like to know the secret how this young nation could have achieved so much rather than get a green-card or simply enjoy the better-off of capitalism. Learn from the way Americans think and do.

Furthermore Friedman enlightens us that there is no way to be mediocre. By saying that he indicates that we will become whether a legend or an ordinary one. By saying that there happens to be no reason and excuse to withdraw to give in to abandon your dream your life your career. By saying that yough people have a solid back-up to live in a life with passion the passion which can be understood as risk-taking to be successful.

Moreover to learn how to learn and to be versatile. One of the true facts in the flat world is the competitiveness which has never been seen before this century. Due to that we need to learn how to learn. This ability enables us to be strong in any cases against any of your fellows' challenge to you because you know the way to learn what they are pround of. Here to learn how to learn is a core course to be versatile both intellectually and emotionally. A better solution for most "left-brain thinkers" is to know about appreciation of Arts and Music. For the majority people it is a feasible way to start using "right-brain" by involving ourselves in these fields.

Above all supply chain China-US the ability to learn and versatility are the 'stuff' I learned from this book.
