It is an amazing book by David McCullough who has won his Pulitzer Prize by the book of "John Adams".

As an historian McCullough concentrated on not only the astronomical (at least to me) collection of facts and evidence but also the organization of them which obviously made readers more interested and attracted by the development of the stories step by step.

Besides to an *** like me it also made me believe that this kind of book but normal novel is a good way to encourage people to explore more in history area because the story did intend to tell you not a fiction written by the author himself imagination but a fact which made you to image by yourself.

But at the beginning you have to get familiar with the method of telling story by David McCullough. If you could find a version read by McCullough himself that should be much better!

The author tried to stand at the point that is more neutralized which convinced readers that the story should be out of any prejudice. Even at the very open phase the story showed us a King George without any hint of psychology problem proved by the letters and words left of people who have seen King George themselves. Gossip is avoided almost 100% during the whole book. But as is known to everybody this American Revolution story still has some pre-assumed judgment which could be seen from the title 1776 which is a positive turning point only for colonist side.

Furthermore the book reader must always bear in mind that this is a kind of novel written by a historian who has only facts but not truth. The author may showed you the evidence he wanted to show but you have to find the possibility behind every words. Even if the author has tried to be neutralized the collection of evidence might be incomplete because mostly the evidence is the private letters of colonist or British. 'Never believe the words written by a man who has known how to write.'

Finally I have to thank this book which brought me such a joy for reading a good story based on firmer fundamentals than just a novel.
