Six Dynasties Civilization《Six Dynasties.》

I have a problem with the term "Six Dynasties" in the title. It refers to the six dynasties in the south and excludes Northern Wei Northern Qi and Northern Zhou. However this book discusses both the north and the south which are difficult to discuss seperately. I wonder why Prof. Dien uses this term to refer to this period of time in history.
