Just finished the book it was a play drama a comedy. I find its e-edition here in the internet with the address http://drama.eserver.org/plays/modern/arms_and_the_man.html .

The play was one of Shaw's first commercial successes. He was called onto stage after the curtain where he received enthusiastic applause. However amidst the cheers one audience member booed. Shaw replied in characteristic fashion: "My dear fellow I quite agree with you but what are we two against so many?"

well let me say the most empressive thing within my reading. First it is a comedy from which kind of drama one can easily find the paradoxes and humors and not an exception is this. Whether the world is really a glorious world for women who can see its glory and men who can act its romance? The answer is "no" according to the comedy. Sergius was the ***e Raina 's ideal hero who turns out a both foolhardy and tiresome guy and won his battle just because of an ridiculous coincidence. The most interesting man Bluntschli as a professional soldier just carrying chocolates instead of cartridges. However it doesn't matter they are all good and praised persons by the author.

The second word I want to mention is "flirt". Whether it is true like the famous talk by Zhang Ailing that "if you don't flirt with a girl she will doubt if you are a real man; while if you flirt with a girl she will assert that you are a bad man" ? Let's see the drama and you will find that though the incident of the cream chocolate soldier involved with Miss Raina in the Act 1 was occasional it was really full of element of flirting such as the plot of scrambling the cloak. Bluntschli said "I will keep the cloak; and you will take care that nobody comes in and see you without it. This is a better weapon that the revolver." Mr. Sergius asked Louka the maid of Miss Raina "do you know what the higher love is?...(it is) very fatiguing thing to keep up for any length of time. Louka one feels the need of some relief after it." The two men were both flirting with girls and finally they succeeded and won their ladies. Maybe Raina told us the fact that girls like the "romatic idiot".

Comedies always tell some truth of lives typically the active ones. Arms and the man did this well I think. The best arms of a man was not weapon indeed but the realization of his real intention. It requires the man to be faithful to his own heart. Sergius said "I will not be a coward and a trifler. If I choose to love you I dare marry in spite of all Bulgaria." Louka said"My love was at stake. I am not ashamed." And after Bluntschli knew Raina was over 23 he annnouced a suitor for Raina.

What 's more the last sentence "what a man what a man" implies us that a real lucky man must be comparatively rich. Without enough heritage Bluntschli could not get his girl Raina according to her parents's request. And Louka's first fiance would not give up if Sergius was not a man of a higher class. Haha chocolate cream is delicious any way.

Ps. Another adulatory sentence" You little know how unworthy even the best man is of a girl's pure passion" while maybe true for Mr. Jia Baoyu's heart.
